For 6 years pain has been a pretty consistent part of our lives. From Adler having it to us as his parents witnessing it. I had to learn to be okay with it. To become friends with it. To sit with it as if it were a person that came to live with us. It’s a dark place to be in sometimes but it is in the dark that you truly see yourself. When you face those fears that live there you end up inviting them in as well. And soon you no longer fear them or the dark in which they came from. In the dark there is light. And Adler is that light even in the most dim of days and through tear soaked memories that trigger waves of anxiety it is what it is. And as he says “I’m ok with it, all of it”. Sometimes I’m not but as long as he is, I’m doing a good job.
